Presenting Yule to kindergarteners?

My oldest son's school sent a letter home asking if families have any special holiday traditions, and I'm seriously considering going in to talk about Yule. I just have to figure out the easiest way to explain it to a bunch of kindergarteners I was trying to think of a treat to bring. My husband suggested my mom's cinnamon apple tea ring (I'm thinking I'll go with this, since it was the hubby's idea and maybe he'll feel more involved. Or I'll feel like he was involved. Or something lol), plus Mom and I thought I could design a simple Yule coloring sheet, just a winter scene with evergreen trees and a sunrise or something like that. I thought about making the point too that I celebrate the birth of someone (the Sun Child) and the return of the light, and maybe draw parallels to Christianity and Judaism, just to make it seem more palatable to concerned parents, but a friend pointed out that 5- and 6-year-olds might not understand that, so I'll probably save that in case concerns DO come up. I'm also debating whether to go into the whole Sun-child-born-of-the-Earth-Mother, I-have-a-God-AND-a-Goddess thing. Any other thoughts and suggestions appreciated!!

Oh boy, good luck with this! I'm really happy to see public schools reaching out to families of all faiths and including them in the seasonal celebration. I'd love to know how this turns out!
